Venezuela Crisis Simulation



Major Event: Coming Spring 2019




Tensions are boiling over in Latin America, as the democratically devoid leadership of Maduro is challenged or consolidated by regional and global powers. This spring, join us for a titanic simulation where sabre rattling might spark into military interposition.

South China Sea Crisis Simulation



Major Event Saturday 8th December - Sunday 9th December



Diplomatic tensions are looming over the South China Sea. As this region contains the ability to control major shipping routes and military presence, are any of the multitude of claims to it justified? Join us for a knife-edge simulation that will test your strategic skills.

Qirin's Lair : Korean Crisis Simulation



Major Event Friday 2nd March - Saturday 3rd March 2018



Two nations, diametrically opposed in ideology, stand face to face across The Bridge of No Return. This Winter, join us for a geopolitical simulation that will test diplomatic skill and military might to breaking point. Wolf in Bear's Shadow : Grey Zone Crisis Simulation



Major Event Saturday 6th May - Sunday 7th May 2017



This April, join us for a geopolitical simulation that will fathom the complex choices facing NATO, Russia and the Baltic states as they face each other in the tundra. Starting with a guest lecture from Russia expert Chris Bellamy on Friday and culminating in a two day crisis game event this promises to be one of the most complex and exciting yet! Please join the department in welcoming three members of the US Embassy staff based in London including Mr Jessup Taylor, who is the second secretary of the political section of the US London embassy in London.

They will be taking about their experiences as American diplomats in London and then a Q and A of US foreign policy.

New Journal Formation



Please join us in congratulating society members Chris Wiseman and Konstantinos Xipolitos on the formation of 'The Balkan Research Initiative'. The online journal publishes interdisciplinary research articles on key issues affecting the Balkans and is currently accepting submissions for the first quarter of 2017. 2016 - 2017 Itinerary Release



Since 2008 Hull University and Professor Cohen-Almagor have facilitated a series of excellent talks, speeches and round table discussions regarding affairs in the Middle East and in particular the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The University of Hull War Studies Department and War Studies Society are proud to host a luminary in our field of study. Author, award winning journalist and Director of the Security Studies Institute of Cranfield University, Chris Bellamy, will be visiting to give a fantastic talk on Russian hybrid warfare and his time as a war correspondent. This will be held in LR 29 of the Hull University Wilberforce Building.



LINKING POINT : The Battle For Mosul

The Hull Crisis Team shall be hosting a major event at the University of Hull. On Friday 21st October join guest speaker, conflict analysis expert Emily Knowles of the Remote Control Project for a cutting edge insight into the changing face of warfare. Then on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd of October plot, plan and negotiate in an intense full scale simulation based in the junction city of Mosul. Summer Hiatus



Peace.....for now.



The society has been disarmed for the Summer as all the students have returned to their digs for some RnR. The execs have been plotting and scheming and have some great ideas to make the society more effective and more fun!
